Scoring Rules

Everything you need to know about how points are earned in plFantasy.

Squad Composition

Build a 15-player squad within a 100M budget, then choose which eleven start each gameweek. A team cannot have more than three players from any single club.

  • 15 players total
  • 2 Goalkeepers · 5 Defenders · 5 Midfielders · 3 Forwards
  • Max 3 players from a single EPL club
  • Starting budget: £100.0m
  • Any valid formation in the starting XI (1 GK, 3+ DEF, 3+ MID, 1+ FWD)

How Points are Scored

Only your eleven starters earn points (plus your bench if you play the Bench Boost chip). Points are awarded for all the usual football actions. The exact points depend on the player's position and performance during the match.

Captaincy

Before each deadline you name one player your captain and another your vice-captain. If your captain ends up not playing, the armband moves to the vice-captain automatically.

  • Captain earns 2× points.
  • Vice-captain replaces captain if captain plays 0 minutes (earns 2×).
  • Captaincy cannot be changed after the gameweek deadline.

Transfers & Deadlines

  • Gameweek 1: Unlimited free transfers until the deadline (initial squad building).
  • GW2 onwards: 2 free transfers per gameweek. Unused transfers can be rolled over with a maximum of 5 free transfersbanked.
  • Extra transfers beyond your free transfers cost −4 points each.
  • Maximum banked free transfers: 5.
  • Squad locks at the kickoff of the first match in a gameweek.
  • Transfers can be reversed before the deadline.

Player Prices

Prices move after each gameweek based on performance, not popularity. A player can only move once per gameweek.

  • Top 20 scorers in the gameweek rise +£0.1m.
  • A negative gameweek score drops a player −£0.1m.
  • 5 gameweeks in a row outside the top 20 drops a player −£0.1m, then the counter resets.
  • 5 gameweeks in a row outside the top 40 (a worse run) drops a player −£0.2m instead, then the counter resets.
  • Prices never fall below £3.0m; there is no upper limit.

Chips

Chips are boosts that can be played to increase one's chances of getting more points for a gameweek. The season is split into two halves - gameweeks 1–19 and 20–38, and you get a fresh set of chips in each half. You can play only one chip per gameweek, and once it's played it can't be reversed. Unused first-half chips don't carry over.

MyTeam Chip Scoring

When you play MyTeam you pick one Premier League club for the gameweek. On top of your normal squad points, you earn extra points from how that club does in its real match, its goals, clean sheet and result all add up, and there's a bonus if they were the underdog in the match.

Underdog bonus applies when your selected team starts the gameweek lower in the league table than their opponent.

Auto-Substitutions

If one of your starters doesn't play at all, the game brings on a substitute in their place so you're never left a player short, as long as the swap keeps your formation legal.

  • If a starter plays 0 minutes, the first eligible bench player is subbed in.
  • Bench is evaluated in order (1st sub first).
  • A sub is skipped if it would break formation rules.
  • The bench GK only replaces the starting GK.
